As we approach the holiday season, Parker Coles Curtis is delighted to partner with Karinya House in bringing joy to local families through our Giving Tree initiative. Karinya House provides invaluable support to women who are pregnant or parenting a baby in the Canberra community, helping them find stability and dignity through challenging times. With your help, we can make their holidays a bit brighter and share in the spirit of giving.

How our Giving Tree works

Every small act of kindness contributes to a larger impact, and together, we can make a meaningful difference. By contributing to our Giving Tree initiative, you’re not only bringing joy to a family but also fostering a sense of community and compassion.

We’re encouraging our team and the wider legal community to participate in this giving initiative! There are several ways you can contribute:

1. Gift donations: Purchase a gift based on the gift guidance list provided by Karinya House (see page 2) and place it under our Giving Tree at the Parker Coles Curtis office.
2. Gift cards or vouchers: Donate a gift card or voucher, which you can drop off at our office to be shared with a family in need.
3. Online donations: For those who prefer to give online, we have a dedicated Parker Coles Curtis/Karinya House webpage where you can make a donation directly.

The deadline for all gifts is Friday 6 December to ensure that Karinya House can distribute gifts in time for the holidays.

Christmas gift ideas

If you’d like to make a tangible impact, consider these thoughtful gift ideas:

• Women and partners: Family-friendly cookbooks, beauty products or pamper items, jewelry, picture frames, stationery, craft kits, or art supplies.
• Children: Summer outfits (including hats), toddler toys such as Duplo and stuffed animals, pretend play sets, outdoor activities like chalk or bubbles, art and craft supplies, kids' drink bottles, books for toddlers or primary schoolers, and family board games.

Please note: Gifts should be new items, left unwrapped (gift bags are optional), meet Australian Safety Standards. Alcohol, tobacco, or religious items are not included.

Other ways you can help Karinya House

1. Sponsor a family: Email Karinya House info@karinyahouse.asn.au at to sponsor a specific family. You’ll receive a unique list of suggested gifts for that family.
2. Financial donations: Contribute to the Karinya House Christmas Appeal, and consider giving in lieu of holiday presents to loved ones. You can print an eCard from the appeal page to share your thoughtful donation.
3. Gift cards: Gift cards are always appreciated, especially for places like Westfield, Kmart, Target, The Her Card, or Woolworths/Coles. Experience-based vouchers, like movie passes or visits to the National Zoo, are also wonderful gifts for families.
